It's no surprise that some couples struggle with managing their wedding budgets...
"No matter how organized and money-conscious you might be, it’s still surprisingly easy to go over budget during the wedding planning process. In fact...
Budgets can fluctuate during the engagement period, based on a variety of factors. There's just sooo many necessary products and services to purchase and book that it can be daunting just to keep up!
But of all the expenses, there are just some things truly valued by brides or grooms that are worth saving up for. And maybe there's a few you didn't even consider.
Wedding Wire posted an article listing: 8 Things to Start Saving for Once You're Engaged - and some may surprise you. If any of these are on your must-have and to-do list, then start saving up now! In order, they are (drumroll)...
- Wedding Bands
- Premarital Counseling
- Marriage License
- Thank You Gifts
- Wedding Day Gifts for Each Other
- Thank You Notes
- New IDs
Some items like #4-Marriage License and #8-New IDs (an obvious expense) fall under the 'necessity' category. However, the other listed items are usually subjective and depend on a couple's personality, behaviors, lifestyle and vision for their wedding.
We've had personal consultations with a number of same-sex and different-sex couples and the one characterisitc that distinguishes certain brides-to-be or grooms-to be is their ability to prioritize between their wants and their needs in planning for a wedding. If not, they run the risk of falling under that 74% percent of couples going over budget.
Our suggestion for couples that want everything listed on their wedding dreamlist: is budgeting their wallets and also their T-I-M-E. Too often we see many couples waiting until the last minute (literally, a few weeks prior to their wedding) to tackle some of the costlier items that can be just be easily secured months in advance affording you the best pricing options for your must-have items and vendors.
Were any of your items listed? Which items are on your must-have list that you are saving up for? We'd love to hear about it!
